A long time shareholder who has served as firm CEO since 1999, Richard H. Matthews specializes in Banking, Business, Employment and Civil Litigation. He is admitted to the Virginia Supreme Court, the United States District Court (Eastern & Western Districts of Virginia), the United States 4th Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court. He is a former President of James Kent Inn of Court, the Hampton Roads University of Richmond Alumni Association, Emerald Greens POA, and served as a Director of the University of Richmond Law School Association. His community involvement in youth activities includes service as a former Cub Master of Pack 53 Chesapeake BSA, Vice President and Director of the Greenbrier Athletic Association and cofounder of the Greenbrier Panthers AAU/ USSSA Baseball Program. He graduated from the University of Richmond with a B.A. in 1974, magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa, and received his Juris Doctorate in 1976 from the same institution where he was Law Review and a member of the honor society. Matthews was an Assistant City Attorney for Virginia Beach from 1978 to 1983.
