  • Head of the family law section specializing in complex equitable distribution in divorce cases, involving corporate & tax ramifications; child custody and support issues. Assists other attorneys in the firm with complex corporate or tax litigation
  • Currently handles corporate matters for a number of small businesses
  • Previous private practice experience involved all aspects of commercial law including:
    -Commercial real estate, condominiums, timeshares, §1031 like-kind exchanges, commercial leases
    -Corporate mergers and acquisitions, syndications, limited partnerships Securities law, private and Reg. D offerings
    -Corporate finance, including industrial revenue bond financing, letters of credit, franchising and low income housing projects
    -Professional corporations, buy-out agreements, non-competition and secrecy agreements
    -Environmental law, audits, regulatory takings
  • Previous private practice involved criminal, domestic relations and personal injury litigation and all phases of real estate practice from residential real estate closings to subdivision acquisition and development loans; commercial litigation and general corporate practice including:
    -three years as trial counsel for the Tidewater Regional Transit System
    -representation of criminal defendants on charges such as murder, arson, RICO, federal income tax fraud, burglary and welfare fraud
    - domestic relations, divorce, child custody, support and adoption
  • Past Adjunct Professor - Marshall-Wythe School of Law; College of William & Mary; team taught Discovery Methods
