The lawyers of the Disability Law Group of Pender & Coward help disabled people obtain their disability benefits. Our attorneys represent clients claiming disability benefits from Social Security Disability (SSDI), the Virginia Retirement System (VRS) and from various disability plans and programs.
Our experienced attorneys understand how the disability programs work, and provide diligent and aggressive representation through the administrative process and at disability hearings. Some of our clients engage us to represent them after they have been denied benefits. Others retain our services during the initial application process.
We know that our disabled clients are suffering tremendous financial hardship and that paying an attorney’s fee is difficult. In many cases, we do not charge a fee unless benefits are awarded.
The process for securing our client’s disability benefits is often complex requiring knowledge of both the law and regulations and the presentation of the necessary evidence that fits within the law and regulations. In most disability claims, there are both medical and legal issues. We gather the medical documentation and often work closely with our client’s physicians in developing our presentation of the claim.
In these difficult economic times, public disability programs such as Social Security Disability and Virginia Retirement System Disability are more stringent in their requirements and their evaluation of disability claims. This results in the denial of more claims. The same is true of disability insurance plans and self funded employer disability plans.
