Overview
Kerry Stolz is a firm shareholder focusing her practice on workers' compensation, insurance defense and civil litigation. Kerry routinely advises businesses by assessing the merits of workers’ compensation and injury cases and the risks of defense of those cases. Kerry also works with business clients in general insurance defense matters and advises clients on the best defense practices for general liability claims. She is experienced in handling litigation disputes, including both full and final mediation and issue mediation.
- Defended employer in an injured worker’s appeal to the Full Commission on a claim for an open indemnity period. Successfully relied on an ineffective marketing defense at both the deputy commissioner level and the Full Commission which resulted in a significant indemnity savings to the employer.
- Defended employer against claims for lifetime medicals, indemnity, and a permanency rating of a worker’s amputated limb. Successful defense based on Claimant not proving an injury that occurred at a definite time with a sudden bodily change which saved the employer thousands of dollars in lifetime medical care.
- Defended manufacturer against a workers’ compensation claim filed for an injured worker’s back injury claim. By relying on the defense that the worker lacked the required medical evidence for a back injury occurring on the date of accident, the employer achieved significant savings.
